2010-11 Girls’ Middle School Lacrosse:

Registration for the spring season is now open. Our team will compete in the Albemarle Girls’ Lacrosse League. The league is striving to field two divisions (5^th/6^th grade and 7^th/8^th grade) and our team structure will be determined after player registrations are received by the league. The league may decide to split our players by age group and then add players from other schools to fill out two squads (5^th/6^th team and 7^th/8^th team).

• Registration forms must be completed and returned to the league by February 23^rd

• Practices will be Wednesdays and Fridays 5-6:30 on the CCS lower field, first practice is Wednesday, February 23^rd

• Games will be on Sunday afternoons at STAB Lower School, beginning March 20^th through May 1^st

2009-2010 Boys’ Middle School Lacrosse: Congratulations to all of the CCS Junior boys!!! They were victorious over Henley’s 7^th grade squad 8-2 in the semifinal game on Saturday, May 15th. Playing with great spirit , they went on to win the championship game Sunday outscoring Henley’s 8^th grade team 4-3. Way to go, boys!

Midget Boys’ Lacrosse (Grades 5-6): The CCS Midget Lacrosse team has made a great deal of progress competing against Boys’ Middle School Midget league teams. With only 5 players returning from last year, it has been a learning and growth experience as many on the team transition from the YMCA program or are picking up a lacrosse stick for the first time.

• The team is made up of six 6^th graders, eight 5^th graders, and one 4^th grader from CCS. We also have two 6^th graders and two 5^th graders from some other schools that have played with us before or whom the league asked us to include since their school does not have a team.
• While the team started off with six losses to more experienced opponents, they have shown improvement each week. The team recorded their first victory 6-5 in overtime versus the Field School on May 2^nd. The team has two remaining games that should both be competitive tests and allow the boys to demonstrate their skills improvement.
• The next game for the Midget team is at Albemarle High School on Sunday May 9^th at 5 PM versus Walker. We finish the season on May 16^th with a 3:00 PM game at the Park at UVA versus Henley.
• Our team will be well positioned for next season with an experienced group of 5^th graders. We also hope to recruit some athletes from the 4^th grade class. We will be excited to see the 6^th graders move up to the Juniors team next year as well.
