The Students Help Make the Auction a Success!
The auction is a massive undertaking of the entire Charlottesville Catholic School Community in support of the school. The students have an active role in supporting their school in this event. The students contribute in three primary ways:
- Class Baskets: Each class prepares a gift basket to be sold at the auction. The students donate items appropriate to the theme of their class basket (i.e. religious goods, art, sports, etc.). A parent then arranges and wraps the baskets. The resulting gift baskets are popular items on auction night.
- Class Gifts: Each class works on a special project that will be sold at the auction. These projects are coordinated by the art teacher and are completed at school.
- Fund Raising: Each year, the children undertake a fundraising effort in conjunction with the auction. In 1999, they conducted a raffle. In keeping with auction 2000's "Fiesta For the Children" auction theme, the students collected change in their own "Procesion de los Santos".
