McCollough

Karla McCollough – Pre-K

eMail: k.mccollough@cvillecatholic.org

I am one of two Pre K teachers and my name is Karla McCollough. I started teaching Kindergarten at CCS thirteen years ago and taught kindergarten for four years. I then changed grades to Pre K and have been teaching Pre K for nine years. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. Since then, I have accumulated over 60 hours of graduate course work. I was born and grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I spent my middle and high school years in Atlanta, went to college in Athens then returned to Atlanta to begin my career. Soon after, I married my husband, Marc, and we were blessed with 3 boys. We moved to Charlottesville fifteen years ago and have enjoyed living and raising our children here. I am an animal lover and advocate and spend much of my spare time volunteering at the local SPCA.

Matherne

Linda Matherne – Pre-K

eMail: l.matherne@cvillecatholic.org

My name is Linda Matherne and I teach Pre-K. This is my 12th year at CCS and my 8th year teaching Pre-K. I was a Kindergarten assistant for 4 years. My roots with CCS go back to the school’s beginnings. I was a part of the mother’s group that conceived the idea for establishing a catholic school in Charlottesville. I was not among the original families enrolling in the school, but I joined the community several years later after 18 years as a stay at home mom. Keeping it all in the family, my son is married to Mrs. Carbone’s daughter.

I love welcoming your children to school and sharing their excitement of learning and life. Our program is very hands-on and developmentally appropriate for four year olds. We tend to the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of children laying the foundation for their school years.

I obtained my BS in Vocational Home Economics at Stephen F. Austin State University and my MS in Human Development from the University of Central Oklahoma. I have also taught middle school Home Economics. I love spending time at Smith Mountain Lake when school is not in session.

Ciccarone

Rose Ciccarone – First Grade

eMail: r.ciccarone@cvillecatholic.org

My name is Rosemary Ciccarone and I have been a Catholic educator for 22 years. I began my teaching career as a fourth grade teacher and have taught grades 1 through 4, but my true love is teaching first grade.
I am originally from Philadelphia, PA, where I attended Widener University. I graduated, summa cum laude, with a degree in Psychology/Elementary Education.
I am blessed to be part of the CCS family for the past 14 years. It is truly a magical place with the sweetest faculty, staff, parents and children I have ever worked with.
An extra blessing for me is getting to teach first grade with my sister/best friend each and every day! We have so much fun together. Getting to share my faith with my students each day is such a gift. When I am not teaching, I spend lots of time with animals. I am a cat rescuer and currently share my home with 24 furry babies. I am a vegetarian and nature lover. I love helping my students see God in everything and everywhere. My favorite saint is the Queen of All Saints, Our Lovely Lady, for whom I was named. One of the highlights of the year for me is planning the May Crowning to honor her.

Sandy Ciccarone – First Grade

eMail: s.ciccarone@cvillecatholic.org

HI, This is Miss Sandy. I was born in Philadelphia, PA. and graduated cum laude from Widner University. I have a B.A. in Elementary Education and Psychology.
I have been in Catholic education for 22 years. I feel so blessed to have spent the last 14 years at Charlottesville Catholic School! Everyone here seems like family. I am grade partners with my sister and best friend in the world. CCS is an amazing place and it is a joy to know all the teachers/staff, parents and children here. I cannot imagine teaching anywhere else. Teaching has always been my passion and teaching about Jesus is right at the top for me. I consider Virginia my home state and I cannot imagine living any other place. I also rescue animals and at the moment I take care of 40 cats! My role model is Saint Francis of Assisi and I pray to be more like him every day!

Brooks

Tina Brooks – Second Grade

eMail: t.brooks@cvillecatholic.org

Hello, my name is Christina Brooks. I am fortunate to be a parent of two CCS alumni, two current students AND to be working at CCS. I love teaching second grade at CCS! It’s a calling which blesses me every school day! I began teaching at CCS in 2001 after volunteering at various nature centers while staying at home raising my older children. I earned a degree in French as an undergraduate at UVA and then went back to earn a Masters in Education when I discovered my passion. My favorite part about teaching second grade is Sacramental Preparation. Jesus encourages us to have faith like a child, and indeed. I have learned through my students that faith is instinctive and to trust in Jesus is to receive Him with your whole heart and to not be afraid when asking for forgiveness. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy hiking with my family and relaxing at the beach.

Ward

Elizabeth Ward – Second Grade

eMail: e.ward@cvillecatholic.org

My name is Liz Ward and I am a Second grade teacher at Charlottesville Catholic School. This is my fifth year teaching at CCS. For the past four years I was one of the Learning Specialists working with Pre-K through 5th grade. Before I followed my calling to teach, I was enlisted in the United States Air Force for six years. While enlisted I received my BS in Business Management and then completed my teacher licensure program in Elementary Education. I then completed my M.Ed. In Teaching and Learning with a concentration in Special Education. I enjoy living in the Charlottesville area with my family.
